The third party vendor for conducting SSC CGL has been changed, TCS-ion – which also is a vendor for conducting NTA’s exam will be roped it, reports of NTA taking over the charge are also making rounds. The SSC CGL 2018 exam dates are expected to release this month.
After the alleged paper leak reported in the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination last year, the government has decided to rope in TCSiON – the digital assessment platform of TCS — to conduct the CGL 2018 on behalf of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) — the exam conducting body for recruitment to lower categories of posts in various government departments in Centre.
Change in the third-party vendor used for conducting the exam was one of the key demands of the students who have been protesting against the alleged paper leak since 2017. Through the new vendor, the exams are expected to be on the lines of NTA-like exams as the Nation Testing Agency also conducts exam through the TCS-iON.
While sources suggest that the NTA will be given the responsibility of conducting the SSC CGL 2018, DG, NTA Vineet Joshi has said that he has not received any communication yet. “We have read about the Supreme Court suggestions on handing over the charge to NTA, however, we have not received the communication yet,” said Joshi.
The Supreme Court (SC) had in September last year asked the government to either give the responsibility to CBSE or NTA. According to sources, the NTA has been selected for the task. The conducted exam will be for the 2018 session, however, there are no updates of the re-exam dates of 2017 exam which was allegedly leaked. The apex court had said, “Prima facie entire SSC system and examination are tainted.”
The government had reportedly asked for tenders from industry players and based on the most secure and affordable services, the tenders were given and TCSiON was selected for the SSC CGL exam.
The CGL exam will be conducted on a CBT (computer-based test) format which means the question paper will be held on the computer and the question papers will be encrypted. The same pattern is being followed for other exams including JEE Main, UGC NET, GMAT, CPAT etc all of which are conducted by the NTA.
The CGL exam is expected to be conducted on the lines of UGC-NET. For the National Eligibility Test (NET), the NTA had a security system in place including jammers which could ban any kind of electronic signal to avoid cheating or leak which are expected to be used in CGL exam as well.
