In 2010 a group of Indian geographers launched the idea of a National Level Geography Competition or Olympiad for school students. The first National Geography Olympiad was held in 2010 with one thousand students participating from twenty schools, the second in 2011 where the number rose to a three thousand students from sixty schools, and the third in 2012 where the number of participants increased to five thousand students from hundred schools. And now in 2017 we have an association of more than ten thousand students from two hundred schools across the country.

 

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Students of State Board, ICSE Board, CBSE Board and International Boards. Standard II to X only.
  • Schools should register at least 50 students overall from all standards to be able to enroll for this competition.

 

EXAM DATE & VENUE:

  • Level 1 – Last date for registration is 31st Oct, 2019. Exam date is 13th Dec, 2019. Venue: School itself.
  •  Level 2 – (National Finals for selected toppers only) – April, 2020. Venue: Mumbai, Maharashtra.
  • The level 2 format, date and venue may change at the discretion of GEO GENIUS.

 

EXAM PATTERN:

  • Competition is made up of multiple choice questions, testing Geographical knowledge and skills. The Olympiad will be conducted every year in two steps.
  • Level 1 – First, children participate in various Schools held at their respective School location throughout the country on 13th Dec, 2019. This will be a written exam with multiple choice questions.
  • Level 2 – Top 50 Participants in each category with high scores from Level 1, will be invited to Mumbai for the National Finals (Level 2) to be held in April, 2020.
  • This will be a written exam with multiple choice questions followed by an audio visual round. Students have to clear the written exam round to qualify for the audio visual round.
  • Top 10 Participants in each category with high scores from this written exam will be qualified for the audio visual round.
  • Please note that a student/parent/teacher has to bear all the expenses of travel for National Final (Level 2) on their own.

The Geo Genius National Geography Olympiad is an annual competition for the best Class 2 to Class 10 geography students from all over India. The very best of participants are chosen for the National Level II competition from thousands of students who participate enthusiastically in the own school in the Level I Geography Olympiads. The exam consists of two parts: a written test, an audio visual round test. Now you also have an opportunity to participate in the National Level II competition through project work competition.

What Is The Objective of The Olympiad?

 

The Olympiad is organized by Geo Genius. The aim of the Olympiad is to: stimulate active interest in geographical and environmental studies among young people; contribute positively to debate about the importance of geography as a senior secondary school subject by drawing attention to the quality of geographical knowledge, skills and interests among young people. The Olympiad consists of a school level competition, project work and a national level competition.The official language of the Olympiad is English.

* All 3 Medals (Gold, Silver and Bronze) will be rewarded in a category subject to at least minimum 15 students participating in a single category.
* If less than 15 but more than 10 students participate then only Gold and silver medals will be rewarded.
* If less than 10 but more than 5 students participate then only Gold medal will be rewarded.
* If less than 5 students participate then no medal will be rewarded.
