Important dates related to MH CET Law

Government of Maharashtra has established a State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET CELL) under Admission Regulatory Authority (ARA) as per the provision in Section 10 of Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) Act, 2015, (Herein after called the Act).
According to G.R. No. CET-2015/C.No.379/MSHI-2, Dated 4 th December, 2015 and G.R. No. CET-2016/F.No.84/MSHI-2, Dated 7th April, 2016 the Competent Authority shall conduct the MAH-LL.B.- 3 Yrs. Course CET 2018 for the admission to the First Year of the Three Year Full Time-Regular Professional Degree Course in Law, for the Academic Year 2018-2019.
The admissions to the following institutes will be done by the Competent Authority, provided they are approved and recognized by Government of Maharashtra and are Affiliated to any of the Non-agricultural University in the State of Maharashtra State :
- The Government College offering LL.B.3 Yrs. Degree Course,
- All Government Aided Colleges (including Aided Minority Institutions) offering LL.B. 3 Yrs. Degree Course,
- All University Departments offering LL.B.3 Yrs. Degree Course,
- All University Managed Institutes offering LL.B. 3 Yrs. Degree Course,
- All Un-aided colleges (including Minority Institutions ) offering LL.B. 3 Yrs. Degree Course, covered as per the Act
Commissioner, State CET Cell is the Competent Authority to conduct the MAHLL.B 3 Yrs. Degree Course CET 2018 as per the Provisions of 2(e) and Section 10(2) of the Act dated 12th May 2015.
Eligibility / Exam pattern
Eligibility for Appearing to MAH-LL.B 3 Yrs. Degree Course CET- 2019
The candidate should be an Indian National.
(a) The candidate should be a Graduate and or Post Graduate in any Faculty/Discipline of Knowledge of any University in Maharashtra established by an act of Parliament or by the State Legislature or an equivalent National Institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or Foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an Authority competent to declare equivalence, with Minimum 45% Marks in 5 | P a g e Aggregate* for Open Category Candidates i.e. 45% Marks in Aggregate* ( for all the parts of the Degree Examination taken together), and 40% Marks in Aggregate* in degree examination in all parts of the Degree Examination for candidates belonging to SC and ST Category belonging to State of Maharashtra only.
(b) The Candidate who has passed the 3 year Undergraduate Degree and or 2/3 Yrs. Post Graduate Degree from university mentioned above in 3.2 (a) after prosecuting the studies in the educational pattern of 10+2+3 and/or 10+2+3+2/3 Yrs. with Regular Studies at Secondary (SSC) and Higher Secondary (HSC) Schooling.
(c) Provided that, the Candidate who has obtained +2 (Higher Secondary) Certificate or First Degree Certificate and or Post Graduation Certificate by Distance or Correspondence Method shall also be considered as Eligible for CET of LL.B.- 3 Yrs. Full Time Regular Course.
(d) Explanation:- The Candidate who has passed the qualifying examination (10+2,UG and or PG) in a single sitting examination without having Basic Qualification of (10+2+3 and or +2/3) is not eligible. Further provided that, No Candidate from Open University having a Degree contrary of the UGC Act and Regulations and contrary to Rules of Legal Education shall be eligible.

(e) Further provided that, the Candidates who are Appearing/ Appeared for the Qualifying Examination (Regular Examination) of the Academic Year 2018-2019 for On Line Registration and Confirmation of application form for MAH- LL.B-3 Yrs. Degree Course CET 2018. Such candidates will be eligible for Admission only if they Produce the provisional/Degree Certificate of the Qualifying Examination and Mark Lists of all parts of the Qualifying Examination at the time of Admission
(f) 10+2+3 and or +2/3 Non sequential qualification is not allowed. Ref : (Government of Maharashtra Extra ordinary Gazette No 102 Dated 24th April 2017 Page No 17.)
Candidates from Out- side Maharashtra Universities will be considered as Open Category candidates irrespective of their Caste/Category and criteria applicable to Open Category candidates will be applicable to them ( Outside Maharashtra University Graduates/Post Graduates.)
The candidate should fulfil the following eligibility criteria for following candidature types :
Maharashtra State Candidature.
(1) Types of Maharashtra state Candidature:
The candidate should be a Graduate and or Post Graduate in any Faculty/Discipline of Knowledge of any University in Maharashtra established by an act of Parliament or by the State Legislature or an equivalent National Institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or Foreign University in Maharashtra recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an Authority competent to declare equivalence, – and
|Maharashtra State Candidature SubType||Eligibility Criteria for Maharashtra State Candidature Type.|
|(Type-A)||a candidate who is Domicile of Maharashtra or Born in Maharashtra, or|
|(Type-B)||the Father or Mother of the Candidate is Domiciled in the State of Maharashtra, or|
|(Type-C)||the Father or Mother of the Candidate is an employee of the Government of India or Government of India Undertaking who is posted and reported to duty in Maharashtra State before the last date for submitting the Application Form for CAP, or|
|(Type-D)||the Father or Mother of the Candidate is an Employee of the Government of Maharashtra or Government of Maharashtra Undertaking, or|
|(Type-E)||the Candidates passing SSC and or HSC Examination or Equivalent Examination from a recognised institution from a disputed Maharashtra Karnataka Border Area and whose Mother tongue is Marathi.|
(2) All India Candidature—The Candidates having Indian Nationality and having completed SSC and HSC examination from Outside Maharashtra State belonging to all Categories are eligible under this Category.
(3) Minority Candidature—The Candidate who has completed his/her SSC and HSC from the State of Maharashtra and is domiciled in the State Maharashtra or Born in Maharashtra belonging to a particular Linguistic or Religious Minority Community within the State and as notified by the Government are eligible under this Category. The Candidate will have to record his Minority Type in the CAP Application form to avail this facility.
(4) NRI Candidature—The Candidate who fulfils the conditions as defined in clause (n) of section 2 of the Act is eligible under this Category. These candidates need not apply for CET.
(5) Foreign Student or OCI or PIO Candidature.—The Foreign Student Candidates, as defined in clause (i) of section 2 of the Act, the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Candidate, as defined under clause (n) of rule 2 of the Government Notification No. CET 2015/C.R. 243(Part -2)/Mashi-2, Dated 5th May 2017 and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) as defined in clause (o) of section 2 of the Act are eligible under this Category. These candidates need not apply for CET.
(6) Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature.—
(a) The children of citizens, who are displaced from Jammu and Kashmir to any part of India or from unsafe border area of Jammu and Kashmir to a relatively safer place in Jammu and Kashmir from 1990 onwards due to terrorist activities; or
(b) The children of officers belonging to Indian Administrative Services (IAS) or Indian Police Services (IPS) or Indian Foreign Services (IFS) and children of staff belonging to military and paramilitary forces transferred to Jammu and Kashmir to combat terrorist activities and joined the post on or before the last date for submission of application for admission; or
(c) The children of staff and officers of Jammu and Kashmir police engaged in combating terrorism; are eligible under this category
There is no upper age limit for admission to LL.B 3 Yrs. CET Examination for the Academic Year 2018-2019, in view of the case pending in Hon. Supreme Court of India in WP (Civil;) No 1023/2016 and the order passed by Hon. High Court, Bombay in WP 3235/2016. The admissions to LL.B.-3Yrs. Course will be subject to the Final Outcome of various writ petitions. If Age limit is made applicable it will 30 Yrs. age for Open Category Candidates and 35 Yrs. for SC and ST Category candidates from State of Maharashtra only as on 1st July 2018. All applying candidates should take a note of this.
MAH-LL.B. 3 Yrs. CET-2019 Schedule:
MAH-LL.B. 3YEAR CET2019 shall be conducted only in the On-Line Mode in Multiple Sessions, if required in selected centers in the State of Maharashtra and selected Centers from Other States.. MAH-LL.B. 3 YEAR CET-2018 will be conducted on Sunday the 17th June 2018. Candidates shall have to appear for the On-Line CET strictly as per the date and Session allotted to them at the allotted Venue and Center. No candidate will be allowed to appear for the Test in other than the allotted Session. No request for Centre, Venue and Session change will be entertained.
Examination Fees for CET:
Application Form Processing Fees as stated below is to be paid through on-line system only by Internet Payment, Credit Card/ Debit Card (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro),Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets for which the service charges, as per rules, shall be applicable in addition to the application form Processing Fees. No other mode of payment shall be permitted. The fees once paid is non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances.
|CET Fee For Open Category candidates from Maharashtra State, Out Side Maharashtra State (OMS)/All India Candidates belonging to all Categories, and J&K Migrant Candidates. On Line Application Form filling dates: (Monday 16th April 2018 to Wednesday 16th May 2018 Mid Night)||Rs. 800/-|
|CET Fee-For Candidates belonging to Backward Class Categories (SC, ST, VJ/DT- NT (A), NT-1 (B), NT-2(C), NT-3(D), OBC and SBC categories ) belonging to Maharashtra State only having valid Caste Certificate and having valid Non-creamy Layer Certificate valid up to 31st March 2019 for DT-VJ, NT1, 2,3,OBC & SBC Candidates . On Line Application Form filling dates: (Monday 16th April 2018 to Wednesday 16th May 2018 Mid Night)||Rs. 400/-|
Special Note:-Candidates having valid Caste Certificate and Caste Validity Certificate from Maharashtra State and Valid Non-Creamy Layer Certificate valid up to 31st March 2019 and belonging to Maharashtra State Candidature should only apply under Backward Class Category. Candidates having income above Rs. 8,00,000/- will not be eligible for Non Creamy Layer Certificate, hence they are advised to apply as Open Category Candidate.
Procedure for Online Application Form Filling and Registration for MAH-LL.B. 3 Yrs. CET- 2019
In order to appear for MAH-LL.B. 3-Yrs. CET-2019, the candidates are required to apply On-Line as per the procedure given below. No other mode of application will be accepted.
The OnLine CET comprises of One paper with Four Sections:

- The Questions will be Objective Multiple Choice Questions with Four Options.
- There is No Negative Marking.
- The time allotted is 2 Hours i.e. One Hundred and Twenty Minutes.
- The Questions will be in English and Marathi.

Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning: This subject will test candidate’s interest towards the study of Law, Legal aptitude and problem solving ability. Questions will be framed with the help of legal prepositions and a set of facts to which the said prepositions have to be applied. Some prepositions may not be true in the real sense. Candidates will have to assume truth of these prepositions and answer the questions drawing well supported conclusions.
General Knowledge with Current Affairs: The topics such as History, Geography, General Science, Economics, Civics and the Current Affairs of the past One Year. The subject is to assess the knowledge of the recent happening and awareness of the World.
Logical and Analytical Reasoning: The subject is to test the candidate’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It will include wide analogies, completing arguments, drawing well supported conclusions, reasoning by analogy, applying principles or rules. Further the subject is to measure the ability to understand the structure, relationship and to draw logical conclusions about the structures. It includes reasoning deductively from the set of statements and rules or principles that describes the relationship among persons, things or events.
English: This section will consist the questions on the areas like Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms, analogies etc.) Proficiency (Idioms and Phrases, One word Substitution, Sentence Improvement and rearrangement, Fill in the Blanks etc.) English Usage Errors (Common errors, Spotting errors, inappropriate usage of words, spelling mistakes etc.) English Comprehension with minimum two passages followed by Five to Ten questions that test reading and reasoning abilities.
